Course Introduction
Project management standards and guides continuously evolve in response to changes in the business environment, technology, delivery methods, and stakeholder expectations. The PMBOK Guide, Eighth Edition, is the latest revision by the Project Management Institute (PMI), aiming to create a clear and practical connection between the principle-based and domain-based approach of the Seventh Edition and project managers’ need for practical, process-oriented guidance.
The PMBOK 8 Booster Masterclass is designed for individuals who are already familiar with previous editions of the PMBOK standard or hold the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and now want to become familiar with the most important changes, new concepts, and applications of the Eighth Edition through an intensive and structured path, without repeating introductory training.
In this masterclass, participants will first examine the differences in the architecture and logic of the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Editions. They will then become familiar with the six principles, seven performance domains, life cycles and development approaches, the tailoring process, five focus areas, and 40 project management processes. Emerging topics such as artificial intelligence, the project management office, and procurement will also be analyzed in relation to real project environments.
This course is a professional update program and is not intended to repeat the fundamentals of project management or a complete PMP exam preparation course from the beginning. Its main focus is on understanding the changes, comparing the editions, and translating new concepts into practical decisions and actions within projects and organizations.
Course Resources
The main course resources include:
- A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Eighth Edition (PMBOK Guide – Eighth Edition) and The Standard for Project Management by PMI;
- The official table of contents, errata, and explanatory materials published by PMI regarding the structure of the Eighth Edition;
- PMI’s PMIstandards+ platform for access to supplementary guides and content;
- GIGAPM’s PMBOK 8 Project Management Process Map, Version 1.2, 2026, including 40 processes across five focus areas;
- The Process Groups Practice Guide and other relevant PMI standards and guides, where needed for comparison and explanation of changes;
- The 2026 PMP Exam Content Outline, solely to explain the relationship between the PMBOK standard and the structure of the professional PMP exam.
The main resources are in English; however, the teaching, analysis, exercises, and course discussions will be conducted in Persian, and key English terms will be presented alongside their Persian equivalents.
Introduction to the PMBOK 8 Standard and Its Connection to the PMP Certification
The PMBOK Guide, Eighth Edition was published in November 2025 and, together with The Standard for Project Management, presents PMI’s updated framework for guiding and managing projects. This edition preserves the foundation of principles and performance domains introduced in the Seventh Edition, while making the structure simpler, clearer, and more practical.
The most important structural features of the Eighth Edition include:
- Reducing and redefining the project management principles from 12 principles in the Seventh Edition to 6 core principles;
- Reorganizing the performance domains from 8 domains to 7 domains, including governance, scope, schedule, finance, stakeholders, resources, and risk;
- Reintroducing process-based guidance in an evolved and non-prescriptive form, with 40 processes across five focus areas: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing;
- Placing greater emphasis on value delivery, tailoring, accountability, sustainability, and an enabling culture;
- Expanding topics such as artificial intelligence, the project management office, and procurement and contracts;
- Providing dedicated sections for inputs and outputs, tools and techniques, and tailoring considerations.
The PMP certification is a professional credential, while PMBOK is considered a standard and knowledge guide. The PMP exam is not based on a single book alone; it is designed according to the exam content outline, job-related tasks, and the ability to apply concepts in real-world situations. Therefore, this course is highly valuable for keeping PMP holders’ knowledge up to date, but it is not a substitute for a comprehensive PMP exam preparation course.
Course Completion Certificate
Participants who complete the required minimum attendance and final assessment requirements will receive a **20-hour certificate of participation** for the **PMBOK 8 Booster Masterclass**. Holders of PMI credentials may record the eligible training hours as **Professional Development Units (PDUs)** in accordance with the current requirements of the **Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) Program**.
Fast and Targeted Professional Knowledge Update
Studying a new standard in full can be time-consuming, especially for busy managers. This course presents the most important changes and practical implications of the Eighth Edition in a structured and cohesive 20-hour learning path.
Preparing for the New Project Management Environment
The Eighth Edition places greater emphasis on topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, value delivery, the project management office, and procurement. Understanding these changes is essential for maintaining the professional and strategic role of project managers.
Clarifying the Differences Between the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Editions
Many project management professionals are familiar with the process and knowledge area structure of the Sixth Edition, or with the principles and performance domains of the Seventh Edition. This masterclass shows which concepts have been preserved, integrated, redefined, or reintroduced into the new structure.
Continuous Professional Development for PMP Holders
PMP credential holders need to continuously update their knowledge and working methods in order to maintain their professional credibility and effectiveness. This course provides an opportunity for structured learning, experience sharing, and earning Professional Development Units.
