Course Introduction
In practice, project management is fundamentally a continuous process of decision-making—and every project decision has a direct or indirect financial impact. This course is designed specifically for non-financial managers: professionals who are responsible for projects but are not accountants, nor are they expected to become one.
In this practical workshop, participants will become familiar with the financial language of projects without delving into complex accounting concepts. They will learn how to understand and interpret financial reports, make informed decisions based on financial information, and communicate more effectively with finance teams and senior management.
The course primarily focuses on managerial understanding, interpretation, and decision-making rather than complex calculations and formulas.
- Many projects fail not because of technical shortcomings, but because of poor or delayed financial decisions. A project manager who does not understand the language of finance may:
- Confuse budget with cost
- Treat profit and cash flow as the same
- Identify financial risks too late
- Be unable to provide reliable financial recommendations to senior management
- This course is designed to bridge that gap.
- Enhancing the financial literacy of project managers without requiring an accounting background
- Developing the ability to interpret project financial reports
- Improving decision-making under budget and cash-flow constraints
- Strengthening project managers’ negotiation skills with finance teams and stakeholders
- Reducing project financial risks through better forecasting and analysis
